SCHS and DSC Textbook Check-Out

Spruce Creek High School Textbooks

Most textbooks for Spruce Creek High School courses have an eBook available inside vPortal. Work with your teacher if you are having issues accessing the eBook or digital resources.

Virtual Students and Textbooks

If you are a full virtual or homebound student who is not on campus at all, you will most likely be using on-line texts and digital materials provided by your teacher. If you find out that you need a physical textbook after August 31st, please email Mrs. Decarlo at mdecarlo@volusia.k12.fl.us or Mrs. Murray at shmurray@volusia.k12.fl.us with your name, alpha code, and what books you need and we will gather the materials and put them in the main office for you to pick up with minimal contact. We will reply to tell you when it will be available, but it will typically take at least 24 hours. Please include your DSC number if the books you are requesting are for dual enrollment.

Dual Enrollment Books

All Dual Enrollment textbooks are loaned to you at no cost just like school textbooks, but they remain the property of Volusia County Schools. You check out and return your books in the media center during normal school hours (8:00-3:45). Please follow these steps to get your textbooks:

Step 1: Find Out Your DSC ID Number
Make sure you know your DSC ID number when you come to check out the books.

Step 2: Identify What You Need
Visit the on-line bookstore for DSC at www.bkstr.com and search for the books you need using your DSC ID number. Make a list or take a screenshot of what you need. You must have the book title and issue or edition if applicable, the author, and the ISBN number for each book or access code.

Step 3: Check-Out
Come to the media center during school hours (8:00-3:45) and visit the media center textbook room to locate the materials you need. We will ask you for your DSC ID number to verify that you have the correct books before checking them out. We check out the materials to you just like any other textbook. If we do not have the book, we will check to see if another school has a copy and request a transfer for you.

Step 4: Book Vouchers
If you need a book that we do not have in our inventory or if it is an eBook access code that you need, you will fill out a voucher to take to the DSC bookstore. A voucher is like a check for payment from VCS that you use to make the purchase. We will be billed for what you purchase with the voucher. You will receive a copy of the receipt, which you must keep and bring back when you return the book in case there are any questions. Anything purchased with a voucher is the property of Volusia County Schools and must be returned to the media center at the end of the course or you will be charged. Single use access codes are the only thing that does not need to be returned.

Step 5:  Returns
It is VCS Policy that if you do not return materials within 1 week of the end of the course or as soon as the school is open if the course ends in the summer or during a break, you will be charged for them. If you are a virtual student who can't be on campus between 8:00-3:45, email us to set up when and how to return the books. If the media center is closed, please hold the materials until the media center is open.

Do not leave materials with anyone other than Mrs. DeCarlo or Mrs. Murray in the media center. No additional dual enrollment textbooks will be issued to you until you return the books or take care of the obligation.

Please email Mrs. Murray at shmurray@volusia.k12.fl.us or Mrs. Decarlo at mdecarlo@volusia.k12.fl.us with any questions or concerns!
